Granny Squares: The Building Blocks to Crochet



Required Skills:

chain stitch

single crochet

double crochet

(preferred) slip stitch


What we’ll cover:

Following a diagram of the traditional or most basic granny square (written pattern available)

The 1st and 2nd round will be discussed and demonstrated quickly to move towards the mechanics of granny squares sooner, so that the 1st and 2nd round can be reviewed when the mechanics and stitch structure are more familiar. 


Required Materials:

- A minimum two different (contrasting) colors of the same type/thickness of yarn

(ex of what to bring: 1 ball of yellow malabrigo rios and 1 ball of purple malabrigo rios)

- 1-3 hook(s) that coordinate with the size of yarn you’re using

(we suggest more than one *IF you have extra* so that we can make a size adjustment recommendation for your hook based on your personal tension)

- Tapestry needle

- (preferred) Stitch markers


ALL CLASSES INCLUDE A  PRIVATE CATCH UP SESSION OF UP TO 15 MINUTES

if your catch up exceeds 15 minutes, a private lesson rate will apply with the first 15 minutes FREE.


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: chain stitch single crochet double crochet (preferred) slip stitch
Requirements: Basic crochet skills are expected. Materials will be evaluated and recommendations will be made if the yarn or hooks are not ideal for learning.
